This is a rare and beautifully bound two-volume set by Osvald Sirén, titled "Kinas Konst under Tre Artusenden", published by Natur och Kultur, Stockholm, in 1942-43. The volumes offer an extensive and richly illustrated exploration of Chinese art over three millennia.

Volume 1 covers the period from prehistoric times to around 600 A.D., and Volume 2 spans from the beginning of the T'ang dynasty to the mid-Ch'ing period. These volumes are an exceptional resource for scholars and collectors of Chinese art history, featuring 464 + 696 pages and richly illustrated with 118 plates, 959 black-and-white images, 32 color plates, and maps. The second volume also includes a correction sheet bound in at the back.

The set is bound in elegant light brown half-leather with eight raised bands, decorative marbled boards, embossed spine decorations in gilt, and gilded top edges. The craftsmanship and decorative bindings make this set as beautiful as it is informative.

Condition: Both volumes are in excellent condition, with minimal signs of wear, making them an ideal acquisition for collectors of fine books, art history enthusiasts, or anyone interested in Chinese art.

This is a truly remarkable and collectible set, combining academic rigor with exquisite presentation.
